Coconut Oil. You've probably heard its praises sung before, maybe even seen it in some of our recipes and for good reason. While you can use it for cooking, I love it for skincare. Coconut oil is not only a great moisturising hair mask, but it's also antibacterial and anti-fungal, which makes it safe and healthy for use on skin.

Olive Oil. This is sure to be found in your kitchen and can be used as a base in massage oils, or in creams, lotions and masks. We also recommend sweet almond oil as an alternative which can be found in health food stores or your local pharmacy.

Apple Cider Vinegar. This can be used for many things in the kitchen and can be added to skincare recipes too. It is an excellent cleanser and is often used in shampoos to cleanse the hair and scalp. Get Apple Cider Vinegar here.

Lemon. Lemons may not be the first skin food that comes to mind, but this little fruit has earned its skincare stripes. Both the juice and peel of lemons have special properties that can keep your skin looking its best. Well known for it’s antioxidant properties, lemon also combats free radicals—both internally and externally—that harm your skin. As a topical application, lemon (both the juice and oil) helps remove dead skin and lightens skin discoloration and aging spots. The acid in lemon also absorbs oil and cleanses pores, without disturbing your skin’s natural balance. You can make a great homemade facial peel using simple ingredients like water, lemon juice, and baking soda.

Yoghurt. Yoghurt is a healthy snack, and it can be just as good for your skin as it is your diet. We love greek yoghurt as it contains lactic acid which you'll find in many anti-aging skincare products. Lactic acid can be used as a gentle exfoliant that helps to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The probiotics prevalent in the yogurt are so soothing to the skin, some swear by using it to calm sunburns. Together, these ingredients make Greek yogurt a top pick for a natural, moisturising face mask.
